Amesbury - Amesbury Secondary Modern School, Amesbury

In 1938 a site had been bought for a Church of England secondary modern school but this had never been built. The county secondary school opened in 1958 on this site and took all children over the age of 11 from the Church of Engalnd elementary school, which then became a junior school. Children over the age of 11 in local village schools were also transferred to the new school. The school was enlarged in 1960-61 and it became a comprehensive in 1974 as Stonehenge School, under which heading further information can be found.
