Broughton Gifford 1975 Conservation area designated for listed properties of 'special architectural interest'.
Calne 1975 Bowood House and gardens opens to the public
Chippenham 1975 Brooke-Bond-Oxo closes in Westmead Lane with loss of 200 jobs. The grammar and secondary modern schools become co-educational comprehensive schools
Cricklade 1975 Cricklade by-pass opened
Marlborough 1975 Marlborough Grammar School and Marlborough Secondary Modern School amalgamated to form St. John's Comprehensive School
Pewsey 1975 Pewsey Vale Secondary Modern School becomes a comprehensive school and is renamed Pewsey Vale School

The old school building becomes a Community Centre; Wilton Church of England Controlled Secondary Modern School is renamed Wilton Church of England Middle School and pupils aged 14+ move to new school at Bemerton Heath
