Truncated remains of large Medieval defences, associated with the castle were revealed in an evaluation excavation in 1995. | |

Test pits dug for an evaluation revealed substantial dump/made-up ground in excess of 1.2m deep. This is thought to be the result of the destruction of/ or are the truncated remains of, the large defences of the castle (SU06SW457). Two sherds were found. | |
