Allington Church, All Cannings

This church was built before 1100 when Harold of Ewias held the manor of Allington. The church and its revenues were given to St. Peter's Abbey in Gloucester. By 1291 the church had probably been annexed by All Cannings as a chapel of ease to the church there and it is likely that it was in decline in the 14th century. The church had a nave and chancel and was to the north of the Devizes to Pewsey road in the north eastern part of the village. The outline of it was still visible in 1847.
