Notes
Note 1

Williams, Alfred: Ms / WGS / FSUT: 'The following is of great age, and belongs to a pronounced type of composition, the chief feature of which was simplicity of subject, that was amplified by repetitions. The words were told me by Mrs W Field, Winson, who learned them of her mother as a child.'

Note 2

In Lord Thomas and fair Eleanor [Gl 165] Mrs W Field, Winson, is recorded as Mrs Lily Field.

Transcribed and edited by Chris Wildridge, 2010.
