Song Lyrics
Verse 1

The ale and stout they'll give away,
And thirteen shillings a week they'll pay,
But thirteen shillings a week won't do,
In haymaking and harvest too.

Verse 2

If you will come and work for me,
Your house and garden you shall have free,
Tater land at whatever you like,
You'll have to farm it morning and night.

Notes
Copied from page 33 of Alfred Williams notebook . The last two lines in verse 2 are hard to read and have been difficult to transcribe accurately.

Transcribed and edited by Chris Wildridge, 2007.
