Opened as a senior school in Leigh road in 1925, using the 1846 building of the British School for Girls with three additional newly built classrooms, when it took all the older children from the elementary schools in Westbury and Westbury Leigh. It became a secondary modern school in 1945/6 and various buildings were added. There was a major building programme in 1960 and further buildings were added in the 1970s. Became a comprehensive as Matravers School.A 6th form was opened in 2001. |
