Zeals House dates from the 14th century with additions and alterations from the 17th and 18th centuries, while in the 1860s Willian Chafyn Grove made substantial alterations. The house is seen here prior to the alterations of the 1860s. The manor was acquired by Matthew of Clevedon in 1372 and he built a house on the site of an earlier one. The Chafyns acquired the property in the 15th century and, as the Chafyn Groves, remained here until the 1960s.
