In 1827 a meeting house, in the occupation of Anthony Edwards, was certified for Wesleyan Methodists. Methodists also worshipped in the mill house at Spray's Mill from c.1829 to 1866. On census Sunday in 1851 there was an afternoon congregation of 30 and an evening one of 50. In 1866 a Methodist chapel was built at Theobald's Green to serve Methodists in Calstone and nearby areas. The chapel closed c.1960. and is now a private house.

I believe the Anthony Edwards mentioned here was my G-G-Great Grandfather. The 1841 census shows him at Spray's Mill, only the 1871 census shows Local Methodist Preacher as an occupation. Very interesting to see the house he was involved with. Dawn from Canada
