The last working team of oxen ploughed land on Maundrell's Manor Farm in 1908. They were sold in that year for £73.5.0d (£73.50p)

Eddie White said:

The man between the the oxen is my grandfather. My father worked on the same farm all his working life from the age of eleven working with horses until 1960. He carried on working until 1977 as a odd job man. When I started working on the same farm in 1957 I worked with the horses for three years. The News of the World news paper came and did a feature on the last of the working horses, we had photos taken of horses doing different jobs. It was hard work but so amazing to see the power of each horse and what they could do. E White
