A chapel for Strict Baptists was built in 1837 but closed in 1971. William Beard, the pastor in the middle of the 19th century, became well known as the founder of a Baptist Chapel in Birmingham in the 1850s. In 1851 the Baptist Chapel's evening service in Hankerton was attended by 120 people. The chapel is now a private house.
