The building housing The Crown Inn is of the 17th century but the house only appears to have been licensed in the 1860s. In 1859 William Mullins was a shopkeeper and carrier by 1867 he also held the Crown Inn. It is most likely that he obtained a license for his shop building and the inn became the more important activity.
